It’s officially Spring! Time to swap out your wardrobe stapes. Here are all the Spring clothes I’m excited to wear this season if you need some inspiration.
We all get excited in the Fall to wear sweaters and jackets and boots. And for good reason! It’s fun to wear these covered up clothing items when we’ve been living in shorts and sandals for a few months. The same excitement to switch your clothes shows up in the Spring too. It’s time to ditch the long sleeves and the heavy layers and lighten up your wardrobe a bit.
We’ve had a few days of Spring-like weather here in the lead up to Spring, so I’m even more excited about Spring clothes this year than I usually am. Here are exactly the Spring clothes I’m excited to wear this season. Some are new purchases, some are old standbys, but they’re all good!
Spring Clothes I’m Excited to Wear
White sneakers
Spring absolutely cries out for white sneakers. I like to wear them with basically all of the Spring clothes I’m excited to wear. Jeans, shorts, dresses, they all look perfect with a cute white sneaker.
Now, for the last year or more (I can’t keep track), I’ve been wearing a pair of white sneakers I picked up at Target for a great price. They’ve done their job and I’ve certainly gotten my money’s worth out of them, but they were never really my perfect pair of white sneakers. They were a bit too round and bulky, and I never felt like they looked OK with shorts or dresses. I wore them with jeans only.
So, I went on the hunt for a new pair of white sneakers to wear with all of the Spring clothes I’m excited to wear. And let me tell you, I hit the jackpot. The Nike Field General is the perfect low-profile sneaker to wear with shorts, pants, and dresses. They are super cute and also extremely comfortable. You can wear these pretty much anywhere! I opted for the all-white version, but they are available in lots of fun colors too if that’s more your speed.
Flats
When I’m not wearing cute white sneakers, I often opt for a cute flat in the Spring. I haven’t yet gotten my feet ready for pedicure season, but some days I can’t bear to coop them up in a full shoe. That’s where flats come in. They strike the perfect compromise!
This year, I was very taken with the trend of woven flats, specifically woven Mary Jane flats. They are just so darn cute! I tried a few pairs on, and, lo and behold, they’re comfy too! The pair I decided on and can recommend to you is from Cushionaire, the Windsor Woven Mary Jane. I got them in the wheat color, but I could totally see any of the color options fitting in any Spring wardrobe seamlessly. These definitely belong on the list of Spring clothes I’m excited to wear!
Dresses
I must admit, I’m not much of a dress girl. That’s especially true when it’s cold outside. I only wear a dress when it’s cold outside if I absolutely have to. When the weather starts to turn in the Spring, I’ll consider a dress every once in a while. To church, of course, but also more casually.
I tend to recycle the same dresses year after year because I don’t wear them very often, but every once in a while I add a new dress to my closet. This Spring, I have added a super cute cotton dress in an absolutely adorable print from none other than Walmart. If you haven’t shopped for clothes at Walmart lately, you are missing out. The Time and Tru and Free Assembly lines have been especially good, in my opinion. The dress I picked up is from Time and Tru – the Tie Back Midi Dress. It’s a definite for Easter, and I’m sure I’ll find other places to wear it this Spring!
Cropped jeans
I spent the better part of the Winter complaining about cropped jeans because they leave my ankles cold when it’s freezing outside. Now that Spring has sprung, I’m all in on cropped jeans!
The specific jeans that belong on the list of Spring clothes I’m excited to wear have got to be my Banana Republic Factory straight high-rise jeans. I bought them in the light wash last year and have loved them. They’re so flattering! I’m wondering if I might need them in white. What do you think?
Pajama shorts
Some of the most surprising Spring clothes I’m excited to wear might be pajama shorts. As most of you know, I grew up in Florida, where I pretty much wore pajama shorts to sleep all year. Now that I live where Winter is a thing, I relish the days I get to sleep in pajama shorts.
Over the years, I’ve tried all the pajama shorts and I know what I like. The best pajama shorts are mid-length, soft, have pockets, and come in lots of cute patterns. Walmart’s Joyspun boxer shorts tick all these boxes. And it sure doesn’t hurt that they cost $8.48!
Shorts
It’s not just pajama shorts that I’m excited about wearing this Spring. Shorts that I can wear during the day have me excited too! I am most comfortable in shorts. Seriously, give me shorts over sweatpants any day.
My favorite type of shorts are denim shorts. They go with everything. The best denim shorts I’ve ever found are the Seven7 weekend shorts. I get mine at Sam’s Club, but if you’re not a member there, they can be hard to find. The best substitute I have found is at Old Navy, the High-Waisted OG Jean Shorts. I’m interested in trying Old Navy’s High-Waisted Baggy Jean Shorts for a more relaxed, comfy look. I’ll report back if I decide to order them.
Button front shirts
Last Spring on Sara in Season, I went through my Spring Mom Uniform. The tops that featured most prominently in that post (and in my Spring wardrobe) were button front short sleeve shirts, also known as camp shirts. They look and feel relaxed and put together at the same time. I don’t know how they do it, but they just make me feel good.
Because camp shirts are some of the Spring clothes I’m excited to wear, I have quite a few options in my closet. I really love my chambray options, especially my chambray shirt from beach lunch lounge. Mine is from a previous season, but this one is close. This brand’s button front shirts just drape beautifully. You can’t go wrong!
Denim jacket
The final item on my list of Spring clothes I’m excited to wear is a staple that you probably have in your closet – the denim jacket. There is no better layer in Spring than the denim jacket, in my opinion. It’s the perfect thing to throw on over your cute Spring clothes on cool mornings and evenings. The denim jacket just finishes the outfit without taking anything away from your look. If you don’t have one, you should get one.
The denim jacket that I have in my closet has been worn Spring after Spring for a very long time. I bought my classic Levi’s denim trucker jacket when I was in law school, so it’s a wonder it’s still holding on. Because it is still in pretty good shape, I have no plans to get rid of it any time soon, but I am intrigued by Quince’s oversized denim jacket. It just looks like a jacket all the cool girls would wear. Yes, I’m almost 40 and still striving to be a cool girl. If you also aren’t a cool girl, I know you understand.
