It’s almost Father’s Day! If you’re anything like me, you have gotten as far as knowing that you need a gift for your dad or your husband, but that’s it. Men are notoriously hard to buy for, so if you’re in the same boat as I am, you’re not alone. Your typical pattern is probably to wait until the last minute and then get the dads in your life a cliché gift that he doesn’t really need.

If you want to really win Father’s Day this year for your dad or husband, you need a great Father’s Day gift. Here are some great Father’s Day gift ideas you might not have thought of that then men in your life will actually use and enjoy. You won’t find a tie or grilling utensils on this list.

Big-ticket items

Are you really looking to pamper your dad or husband this year? Consider these big-ticket Father’s Day gift ideas that are sure to win you major brownie points with the man in your life.

Car floor mats

You might think I’ve decided to rank this list of Father’s Day gift ideas from least to most exciting, but you, my friend would be wrong. You don’t realize just how exciting car floor mats are until you don’t have them or you have low quality ones. They help prevent your car floors from getting destroyed by dirt, sand, and salt and they corral the inevitable pound of Cheerios that’s bound to drop on the floor of your backseat if the man in your life carts young children around with any regularity.

I highly recommend that you spring for the gold standard Weather Tech floor mats. They’re pricey, but worth it. We bought the cheap ones for my car and they annoy me every single day.

Solo Stove

Men are drawn to fire. Satisfy this primal urge safely by getting your dad or husband a Solo Stove as a Father’s Day gift this year.

A Solo Stove is a smokeless fire pit that lets you enjoy all the benefits of a bonfire without the mess and smoke that are usually high barriers to entry. Although they come in a giant bonfire size, they also have several much smaller options so there is a Solo Stove to fit your needs. If you aren’t sure whether your dad or husband will be into a fire pit, I suggest that you start with a tabletop version. We have the Mesa, and it’s perfect for enjoying a summer evening on the back patio. Round out your Father’s Day gift with all the makings for s’mores!

Shop vac

Who can’t appreciate a shop vac? Seriously, these things are dead handy. Cleaning out the car? Grab the shop vac. Preparing the fireplace for winter? Shop vac! Crying into your hands because a pipe burst and flooded your basement? That’s right, you need a shop vac.

To make sure that your dad or husband is prepared for all of these eventualities and more, gift him a shop vac for Father’s Day this year. We have the big honkin’ size shop vac, but if you don’t have a ton of storage space for this thing, they come in smaller sizes too.

Garage organization

I’m sticking with the garage category for one more genius Father’s Day gift idea for you. My family just recently overhauled our garage and it has made such a huge difference in our daily lives. The secret to our success? Garage organization of all shapes and sizes. If you’re looking for a practical Father’s Day gift that will also bring joy, consider giving the gift of garage organization.

Sports organizer

My personal favorite part of our newly organized garage has to be the sports equipment area. We have a sports-obsessed 5-year-old boy, so we had sports equipment littering the garage floor. It was everywhere. Not so anymore now that we have this genius sports equipment organizer. I cannot overstate how much I love this thing. If you have kids or husbands who have lots of sports equipment, this is a great Father’s Day gift.

Shelving

Another big lesson we learned through our recent garage overhaul is that you absolutely need to make use of the vertical space in your garage. It makes a huge difference if you just get the stuff off the floor! My handy husband decided to make shelves himself out of plywood and 2 x 4s, but we these easy to put together shelves we have in our utility room would work equally great in a garage.

Tool organization

If your dad or husband has a fair amount of tools, he probably needs a better way to organize them. My husband picked out this wall mounted rack with removable bins to hang above his workbench and he has been so in love with it. Now it’s easy to find exactly what he needs quickly, no headaches or frustration necessary. My only issue is that it’s too high for my 5-year-old to reach. My days of sending him to get a screwdriver when I need to change the batteries in one of the 7,000 battery-operated toys we have in our house are over.

AeroGarden

The AeroGarden is perhaps the best gift I ever gave my husband. I bought it on a complete whim one year when I was out of gift ideas and hoped he gave it a try. Boy, did he ever! For a few years, he was completely obsessed. We had herbs and tomatoes growing constantly. His phone would even send him a text when they needed water. He packed it away for a few years but recently got it back out now that we have more space in the garage. If your dad or husband likes to garden or even to tinker, the AeroGarden is a great Father’s Day gift.

Bang for your buck

You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get your dad or husband a great Father’s Day gift. Here are my recommendations for small items that the men in your life will be sure to love.

Pillow

When is the last time your dad or husband got a new pillow? It’s probably been a while. Help his back, neck, and sleep by gifting him a new pillow this Father’s Day. Everyone has preferences when it comes to pillows, but here are a few great options that you can consider: a memory foam pillow, a shredded memory foam pillow, or a down alternative pillow (this is a 2-pack so you can have a new pillow too!).

Insoles

If your dad or husband doesn’t need a new pillow for his head, what about his feet? Especially if your dad or husband is on his feet a lot, new insoles for his shoes make a great Father’s Day gift. My always-on-his-feet husband likes the Dr. Scholl’s Extra Comfort insoles. They’re inexpensive, easy to find, and make a huge difference.

Foot spa

You might consider bundling those insoles with another great Father’s Day gift for the feet. A simple, at-home foot spa can offer tremendous relief for not much money and not much effort.

Smoker box

Is your dad or husband interested in dipping his toe into the world of smoked meat? Consider a smoker box as a Father’s Day gift this year. It essentially turns your propane grill into a smoker so your dad or husband can try out smoking meat before committing to a dedicated smoker.

Couch caddy

I mentioned in my April Things 2025 post that we have been loving the couch caddy that my mother-in-law gifted my husband for his birthday. It fits over the side of any couch and provides just enough space for a drink, a remote, and a book. What more can dad ask for from a Father’s Day gift than to have all the essentials close at hand?

Games

Let the dads in your life embrace their inner kids by gifting them games this Father’s Day. Because Father’s Day happens right at the beginning of summer, I highly recommend outdoor games. And your options here are endless. Who doesn’t love to play cornhole, giant Jenga, or bocce?

Priceless

If it’s memories you’re after in a Father’s Day gift, I’ve got you covered too. Here are priceless gifts that may cost varying amounts of money but create lasting memories he’ll cherish forever.

Pictures

Pictures are a stereotypical gift for moms, but don’t overlook them for dads! Your dad and/or husband want to be surrounded by pictures of your kids, so Father’s Day is a great time to deliver. You can go the traditional route and print out pictures and stick them in frames, you can buy a digital frame that you can update almost constantly, or you can make a fun picture gift from an online photo store like Shutterfly or Snapfish.

Experience

If your dad or husband is anything like my husband, he much prefers an experience as a Father’s Day gift. You know your dad or husband, so pick an experience that you know he will love. Some great ideas include a round of golf, a beverage tasting, a massage, or concert tickets.

Sleep

Last, but certainly not least, gift your dad or husband a little extra sleep this Father’s Day. Dads work hard, so they deserve to take a load off on Father’s Day. Let him sleep in a little bit. He’ll be a much happier camper if you do.
