It’s the end of the month! You know what that means. Here are all of my March 2026 things worth highlighting.
March was an interesting month, which makes for lots of things to talk about with you. I hope my March 2026 things give you a bit of inspiration or at least a few minutes of entertainment!
March 2026 Things
Food
I really like food, both cooking it and eating it. So, naturally, food was central to my March 2026 things.
Old Standby – Salad with nuggets
I’ve really been leaning into quick dinners this month. The extra light and slightly warmer temperatures have kept us outside longer in the afternoons, which means I have less time to get dinner on the table. The hands down favorite of these quick dinners this month has been a simple bagged salad topped with chicken nuggets cooked from frozen. Yes, a delicious meal can be that easy! I usually get a bagged Caesar salad and always use the Member’s Mark Homestyle Boneless Chicken Bites that I get from Sam’s Club.
Favorite New Recipe – Chicken noodle soup risotto
I’ve been really into chicken soup and chicken soup-adjacent meals lately. I basically try any variation on this theme I come across, to variable success. This month’s attempt was chicken noodle soup risotto from How Sweet Eats. Y’all, this was delicious! I inhaled it and even my kids didn’t turn their noses up at it. I know it’s getting to the end of soup season but give this one a try before it starts to get too hot to eat this type of food!
Biggest Food Fail – Smoked sausage potato soup
I want to be clear that this smoked sausage potato soup wasn’t a fail for the whole family. The adults liked this soup a lot. The kids did not. My daughter got spooked by the greens and my son got spooked by the potatoes for some unknown reason. If you have kids who aren’t irrationally afraid of greens or potatoes, give this one a try.
Dessert – Ice cream cake
I’ve mentioned before that we have dietary considerations to consider when feeding our extended family. My nephew has a legit sesame allergy and a maybe tree nut allergy and my sister-in-law doesn’t eat gluten. When we celebrate a birthday, things get a little tricky. We celebrated my father-in-law’s birthday at the beginning of the month and I was in charge of the cake. I decided to go a little outside the box this time and made an ice cream cake. I just had to use gluten-free Oreos for the filling and make sure the ice cream flavors I selected were tree nut- and gluten-free. It was a huge win!
Books
I am doing such a great job with my reading goals this year! I can count three physical books among my March 2026 things and I want to talk about all of them. The audiobooks I listened to this month were nothing to write home about, so we can skip that category this month and just focus on the physical books.
Best Historical Fiction – All the Light We Cannot See
I have been aware of All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr for quite a few years. For some reason, I just never picked it up. Well, that changed this month and I’m so glad it did! This masterpiece is a WWII-based novel that focuses on a young, brilliant German boy and a blind French girl whose paths cross during the war. You’d think this would have been a heavy slog of a book to get through, and in some cases you’d be right. But it’s also uplifting and filled with small moments of joy. It’s a long book, but the short chapters keep it moving right along. If you enjoy historical fiction, you’ve got to read this book. It’s definitely the best book I’ve read in a long time.
Best Contemporary Fiction – The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
I was very surprised to realize that All the Light We Cannot See was the best book I’d read in a long time, mostly because I had just finished reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. When I finished Evelyn Hugo’s story, I made the same pronouncement. It was so so good! It’s a rom com, it’s emotional, it’s old Hollywood glamour – it’s everything you could want in a book. If you have read any other Taylor Jenkins Reid books, you like gossip, or you have an interest in old Hollywood, pick this one up STAT!
Not My Favorite – While We Were Dating
Jasmine Guillory is one of my favorite rom com authors. The banter is top-tier, the stories are usually fairly believable, and they just fly by. I’ve never not enjoyed one of her books, but some are better than others. The one I read in March 2026, While We Were Dating, falls into the not my favorite category. It took me a while to become invested in the story and was a little far-fetched for my preference. If you like cute rom coms, it’s probably still worth a read (it’s quick), but I’ve got better Jasmine Guillory recommendations for you.
TV
My media-related March 2026 things were kind of all over the place. I dabbled in sports (hello, March Madness!), but there is really only one media thing worth mentioning.
Bridgerton
I must admit, I am a Bridgerton girly. I read all the books and have watched all of the seasons of the TV adaptation that have aired on Netflix. Benedict’s book, An Offer from a Gentleman, was not my favorite, so I didn’t really have high hopes for this season of the TV series. I mean it’s basically Cinderella, but make it smut.
For me, this season landed in the middle of the pack on the TV side. I appreciated that it was more romantic than sexy, Luke Thompson (the actor who plays Benedict) is pure charm, and the show is genuinely fun to watch. What I didn’t like was how they moved the other siblings’ plot lines forward. Literally every single one of them let me down this season. It’s also really getting weird that Daphne is M.I.A. I hope they bring everyone back and move everyone forward next season, regardless of if they focus on Eloise or Francesca.
Clothing
I’m very excited about my clothing-related March 2026 things. Clothes don’t usually get me excited, but I absolutely have a few clothing items this month that I’m very excited about. If you read my Spring Clothes I’m Excited to Wear post, these will look very familiar.
Nike Field General sneakers
White sneakers are an absolute wardrobe staple for me. Literally everything goes with a pair of low-profile white sneakers, so I get really good use out of every pair I buy. I was in need of a new pair this Spring and landed on the Nike Field General. This pair of sneakers is perfect with shorts, pants, and dresses and is maybe the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. I purchased the all-white version, but they have lots of cute color combos that would add a nice pop of color. The light pink and white pair is particularly tempting to me!
Woven flats
The woven flats trend has been around for at least a few years, and it has intrigued me since it burst onto the scene. I tried on a lot of pairs of woven flats last year and never found a pair that really worked. This year, I’m happy to report that I have found a great pair of woven flats. Even better, they’re woven Mary Jane flats! The pair I love is by Cushionaire – the Windsor Woven Mary Jane. I opted for the wheat color that will go with everything, but all of the color options would be extremely versatile additions to your wardrobe.
Cropped jeans
I really try not to repeat things in these monthly round-up posts, but I’m breaking my rule this month. I just can’t get enough of my Banana Republic Factory straight high-rise jeans! They are a slightly wider straight leg that hits right above my ankle (I’m 5’6” for reference) that almost completely hides my mom pooch. They perform a miracle, so they’re worth including again.
Products
Now it’s time for the random, don’t-fit-into-a-category March 2026 things. They’re a little niche this month, but hopefully some of you find them helpful!
Wreaths
I am the type of person who basically has to have a wreath on the front door year-round. I have autumnal wreaths for Fall, evergreen wreaths for Christmas, and, up until a few weeks ago, I had boxwood wreaths for the rest of the year. I put these ordinary times wreaths up when I took my Christmas wreaths down in January, but then it snowed A TON this winter, so I removed them. When I went to get them back out at the beginning of the month, I lost a good 50% of the faux boxwood leaves off the wreaths.
I went looking for new wreaths and couldn’t find exactly what I wanted for a price I wanted to pay. To tide me over until I found the magic wreaths, I ordered cheap ones from Amazon. I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of these wreaths that I no longer have any intentions of continuing my search. I fluffed and added a buffalo check bow to each, and I think they look darn good!
Rolling pin
I was talking with my sister-in-law’s mom recently, and the subject of rolling pins came up. I don’t remember how, exactly, because that’s a weird topic of conversation, but it did. Both of us gushed over our French rolling pins, the simply tapered pins that don’t have handles. They really do require much less effort to get the perfect pie crust or pizza dough. I put mine to good use for both of these items in March when I made a quiche and stromboli. This kitchen gadget doesn’t get the flowers it deserves, so here are a few on my tiny corner of the internet.
Nail stickers
I was never a nail girl. I went to Catholic school where nail polish was forbidden. Then I went to college and majored in chemistry, where my nails were in daily contact with acetone. After my first kid was born, I found nail stickers. These stickers let me have a little something pretty for myself without much time, effort, or money. I kept it up for several years and then got out of the routine for a long time. Just recently, though, I’ve gotten back in the rhythm of applying them. I use the Dashing Diva Gloss Color strips, which give me about a week of wear.
Experiences
We had another month of highs and lows. But our March 2026 things certainly kept us on our toes!
Tree
Spring is synonymous with wild weather in many parts of the U.S., including where I live. We usually ride out this wacky weather period without significant issue. Maybe a power outage and some stray limbs down in the yard, but nothing worse than that. We didn’t quite come out as unscathed in March, but we still had luck on our side.
One Friday evening early in March, I took my kids four minutes down the road to my sister-in-law’s house so they could all tire each other out before bedtime. When I got home to put the kids to bed, the neighborhood was dark and a pine tree had fallen on the house and over the driveway, taking the downspout with it. And the tree that stood next to it was leaning at about a 45-degree angle. By some miracle, no windows were broken, the siding was unscathed, and the fence wasn’t crushed. Like I said, lucky. The next morning, my neighbor and my brothers-in-law came over, and together we pulled down the leaning tree and cut up both trees so we could access the garage. Now if only we could get this wood out of the driveway….
Puttshack
If you have a Puttshack near you, make a tee time for unlimited play on a Sunday afternoon. Just do it! My son had given my husband exactly this for his birthday, which we scheduled for a Sunday in March. The kids had a blast, Dad had a great time, and Mom surprised everyone by winning every game.
Great Wolf Lodge
My husband was unable to get off work for my son’s spring break this year, which meant that we were faced largely with an at-home spring break. He was able to avoid working the weekend at the start of spring break, though, so we took that opportunity and ran with it – all the way to the Great Wolf Lodge. Look, I’m not a water park person, but the kids had enough fun over this weekend to last them the whole spring break. Look out for a dedicated Great Wolf Lodge post soon!
Kid stuff
If you have young kids, don’t skip my kid-related March 2026 things! There are some real gems here this month.
Bentgo lunchbox
When my son first started Kindergarten in August, I bought him some cheap lunch containers that did the job reasonably well. When one of them broke this month, though, I decided I would go for the upgrade and buy a Bentgo Kids Snap & Go Lunch Box. If you’re in the market for a kid’s lunch container to hold food inside the insulated lunch box, this is perfect. The compartments are perfectly sized, it’s leak-proof, it washes super well, and it comes in really cute colors/designs. We opted for the two-tone blue so it could grow with my son, but I can already anticipate my daughter going gaga over the unicorn one. Because you bet I’ll be buying one for her when she starts Kindergarten.
Toddler girl shorts
Here at the end of March we have already had a few chances to bust out the shorts. My son continues his obsession with Under Armour short sets, but my daughter likes to try new things. I bought her a pair of Wonder Nation Toddler Girls Ruffle Hem Shorts and these easily take the cake for the best shorts of the season. They are soft, flowy around the legs, and the perfect length. I’m seriously debating how many pairs of these shorts are too many pairs because, at $4.48 each, the sky’s the limit!
Cartoon Academy
Last on my list of kid-related March 2026 things is an activity, not a product. If your kids like to draw, or even if they don’t, give PBS’s Cartoon Academy videos a shot. Joe Wos, a cartoonist, walks you through how to draw funny little cartoons in a handful of minutes. My 6-year-old, who isn’t naturally artistic and who used to cry during art time at preschool, can’t get enough! I have found that it’s the perfect way to occupy them while I’m trying to fix dinner. So maybe there’s a mom hack for you!
