It’s the end of November? We have only one month of 2025 left? I guess I’d better share my November things with you then.
How’s everyone feeling? We are solidly in the home stretch of the year and the craziness of the holidays. If you’re feeling a little stressed out (like I am), take a minute to relax, breathe, and read my November things.
November Things 2025
Food
No notable beverages this month, so the first category of my November things is all about food!
Old Standby – Meatballs
My kids absolutely love meatballs. Of every kind. This month, I really leaned into their willingness to eat meatballs. We had frozen meatballs in tomato sauce, BBQ meatballs, Hawaiian meatballs, and meatball soup. The kids ate them all, and heartily.
Favorite New Recipe – Creamy Gnocchi Soup
I love nothing more than to make and eat soup when the weather starts to get colder. There’s nothing I like better than to try a new soup recipe in the Fall or Winter and be blown away by how good it is. Luckily, that happened this month when I made creamy chicken gnocchi soup. This soup is absolutely delicious! Be warned, though. A little goes a long way – it’s rich!
Biggest Food Fail – Toasted Cauliflower Buttered Noodles
I like cauliflower, I like butter, and I like noodles, so I had high hopes for toasted cauliflower buttered noodles. And I liked them. So did my husband. My kids? Not so much. This won’t be a repeated recipe in our house. If your kids aren’t as picky, give it a try!
Dessert – Pumpkin pie
The month of November is defined by pie. And no pie screams November more than pumpkin pie. It’s near the top of my list on Thanksgiving (and really any other day of the year). But not just any pumpkin pie. It’s got to be Sally’s Baking Addiction’s pumpkin pie. I’ve never tasted better!
Husband in the kitchen
Ok, so my husband getting in the kitchen to cook isn’t a food, but it’s food-related, so I’m memorializing this feat here. My husband doesn’t cook. Basically as soon as we started dating seriously, he delegated all things food to me. But the last few Sundays, he has made an appetizer that he has selected with little assistance from me. First up were sweet potato fries and then he tried buffalo cauliflower. And they’ve both been edible!
Books
I’ve really struggled to get into a reading rhythm the back half of this year. I’m still reading, but it’s slow going. So, my November things include only one physical book and one audiobook. Hey, it’s better than nothing!
Best Book of November – Things We Never Got Over
There has been a lot of chatter on the internet about Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score. When I saw it on the clearance rack at my neighborhood used bookstore, I scooped it up and started reading. I have to say I was skeptical when I started reading it. I don’t typically enjoy books that use an enemies to lovers trope. They just aren’t very realistic. What set this apart, though, is that the male lead was still nice and respectful even when he was acting the enemy. All in all, this was a cute book. A great 500+ page escape.
Best Audiobook – Careless People
Did I like listening to Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams? No, not particularly. Was I blown away by just how much power the tech bros have and how nonchalantly they treat it? Absolutely. This one is eye-opening, folks.
Media
Oh boy, this is the most disappointing category on my November things list. I’ve been so focused on planning all the things this month that I haven’t had time to watch much at all.
TV - The Great British Baking Show
I know The Great British Baking Show was one of my September things, so it feels a little like I’m cheating to include it again. But finishing this season of the show was the only TV I watched in November. I won’t include any spoilers here, but I was so pleased with the final and the winner.
YouTube - Blair Lamb
I like to watch/listen to YouTube videos while I’m doing things like writing Sara in Season posts or making one of the 3,000 daily lists that are essential to my daily functioning. Although there are many YouTube channels I really like, lately I’ve been so excited every time Blair Lamb uploads a new video. I’ve followed Blair for a long time. She has faced some of the same challenges at the same time I have over the years, so she’s very relatable to me. It’s just a cozy watch. If you’re a mom around my age, I highly recommend you give her channel a try! She also runs an online t-shirt business that has really cute things!
Clothing
Oh man, we are rolling into another pretty boring category of November things. I want and need a few new pieces of clothing, but I haven’t had the time to find them! Send me links, people!
Sweatpants
I didn’t grow up wearing sweatpants. Florida just doesn’t lend itself to that particular article of clothing. But I live outside of Florida now, and I need sweatpants. The problem is that I have hated pretty much every pair of women’s sweatpants I’ve tried. This month, I took a chance and bought a pair of men’s active joggers at Sam’s Club. They were cheap and seemed to tick all the boxes, so I bought a pair. Boy, am I glad I did! These are the perfect sweatpants! They have a comfy elastic waist with a drawstring, they have deep front pockets and a back pocket that zips closed, they are long enough to cover my whole leg, and they are soft and cozy. Don’t sleep on men’s sweatpants!
Flannel shirts
My Winter mom uniform has re-entered the chat! That means I’m rocking flannel shirts nearly every day. I love them so much! I really don’t need another flannel shirt, but I’ve got my eye on this cobalt blue-based plaid at Kohl’s. Talk me into or out of it!
Mini crew socks
Warning: I’m going to show my age in a big way with this one. I am so sick of cropped pants! I think they’re adorable in the Fall and Spring, but when the weather really starts getting cold right about now, my ankles are not a fan! This year, I’m done with cold ankles. I bought myself a pack of mini crew socks and I’m so glad I did. I might not be a fashion plate, but I’m warm!
Products
My product-centered November things are good ones.
Pie plate
Look, you can find pie plates everywhere. So, what’s so special about a pie plate? Well, this deep-dish glass pie plate is certainly special. It’s the perfect depth for a thin crust pie with a thick filling. I also love that it’s glass so I can monitor the crust as it bakes. These particular pie plates are indispensable on Thanksgiving. If you didn’t have one this year, get yourself one for next year.
Gas fireplace insert
I realize that this product is a bit niche, but we have been so happy we bit the bullet and converted our log-burning fireplace into a gas fireplace. It’s so nice to be able to just hit a button to turn the fire on and another button to turn the fire off. Although the people in my family are all very happy with this upgrade, no one is happier than the dog. She’s in heaven on the sofa in front of the fire.
Slippers
In November, I pull out my slippers from the depths of the closet. It’s usually a fun day to slip my toes back into their cozy winter home, but this year was extra special. Last year, I upgraded my slippers from the cheapest moccasins I could find to a nice pair of L.L. Bean Wicked Good slippers. They are such an improvement over what I’ve worn previously and 100% worth the extra money. This would be a great Christmas gift for anyone on your list!
Experiences
My favorite November things were experiences, as they are every month. Life is all about experiences, people! I’m learning that more and more as I get older.
Play date
My son is only 2 months older than my nephew. We live 4 minutes away from them, and they are best friends. That means that play dates have been exclusively family for the last almost 6 years. Recently, though, my son and my nephew made a new friend who fits with them like the third amigo. We really like this kid, and we really like his family too, so we hosted a play date with my family, my brother-in-law’s family, and the boys’ new friend’s family in November. The kids had fun, the parents had fun, the dog ran away (we got her back), and we can’t wait to do it again!
Thanksgiving
Of course, I couldn’t talk about November experiences without mentioning Thanksgiving. I love hosting Thanksgiving, even though I’m really stressed out for about a week leading up to the big day. What can I say? I am my mother’s daughter. She rarely got stressed out, but she made an exception on Thanksgiving. Maybe my daughter will break the cycle when she grows up? One can hope.
Ice skating
My daughter started ice skating lessons this month, and it’s just about the cutest thing ever. She’s watched her brother ice skate and play hockey for years, and she’s finally getting her turn. It’s so fun to watch her try something new, and she’s smashing it!
Kid things
I have some weird kid stuff to share in my November things. But they all have their place!
Hair ties
My niece and nephew recently had a sleepover at our house. The morning after the sleepover, my niece had to go to dance class, so my sister-in-law sent hair stuff with her so I could get her hair done for dance. Her hair kit included brightly colored, soft hair ties, and my daughter fell in love on the spot. She talked of nothing but these hair ties for days and lost her mind when she lost the one she took from my niece’s stash. Needless to say, my sister-in-law brought her some and I ordered her some, so we are now drowning in these hair ties. They do work well if you’re in the market for hair ties for little girls!
Post-it notes
My son has been into writing lately. He writes anything on any piece of paper. His preference, though, is post-it notes. I’m all for instilling a love of writing in my kids, so I’m all for it. I just might need to buy a bulk pack of them next time I’m at Sam’s Club.
Napkins
When my kids were babies, I decided that I was going to use thin baby washcloths as table napkins. They’re soft, they clean messy hands and faces way better than paper napkins, and they’re washable and reusable. It’s now 6 years later and I’m still using these cloths as napkins, or napicks, as my daughter calls them. I highly recommend buying a cheap multipack of baby washcloths for use as napkins in your house too!
